The iconographer received a bachelor's degree in philosophy and a bachelor's degree in painting from Washington University in St. Louis, and a master's degree in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. He was a fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA, and at the Yale University Norfolk Summer Painting Program. He has taught at the Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University, and has given lectures on iconography in academic and religious settings across the United States. His work has been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., among other cities. He is a priest in the Eastern Orthodox Church, and lives with his wife and young children on a small ranch in Wyoming. He serves at Saint Eustace the Great-martyr Orthodox Mission.
